What’s your best part of the week? If it’s Monday morning, then…I’m sorry weirdo! ;) Just kidding…well, most of us would answer Saturday Morning, right? That’s why I am going to tell you what my wife makes for me every Saturday morning…it’s probably the easiest thing ever…takes less than 10 minutes, but it’s ummmm….

Well, I am going to call it The Saturday Morning Chutney Sandwich. Chutney in Hindi means “sauce”. There are all kinds of chutneys from mild to hot, sweet to sour. They can have ingredients such as coconut, lentil flour, tamarind, cilantro, yogurt, Etc. I know I know this is already sounding too complicated :) That’s why I am going to make this extremely simple for you.

Here’s how you go about it.

Ingredients:

1. White Bread

2. Regular or Salted Butter

3. Cilantro Chutney (You can get this from any India Store in your locality). The brand I like the most and totally recommend is the “Nirav Coriander Chutney”. It rocks, like no other chutney I’ve tasted.

4. Cucumber

5. Salt, Pepper and Chat Masala. You can get Chat Masala from any Indian grocery Store as well.)

6. Sev (Very thin strips of fried flour). You just need to ask for this at the Indian grocery store. It is pronounced like “save”.

Preparation:

Take 2 slices of white bread and apply butter on one and the cilantro chutney on the other. make thin slices of the cucumber and place it on the white bread. Sprinkle a pinch of the chaat masala, salt and pepper. Add a little bit of the crispy Sev on top. Close the sandwich and cut into 6 rectangular pieces.

That’s it! If you have the ingredients handy, it takes less than 5 minutes to make one. My wife makes it and I LOVE it. I will post a picture here soon one of these days. Enjoy and let me know if you like it or need any more info.

I live in Las Vegas and visit vegetarian restaurants here all the time. Here are my favorites:

1. Veggie Delight: They offer the best lichee boba drink I’ve ever had. They specialize on veggie meat sanwiches. Their steak sandwich is my favorite. Sometimes the people there don’t speak English. But other than that, I am all praise for this little veggie place.

2. Long Life Vegetarian Restaurant: This is a vegan-chinese restaurant in Las Vegas. Quite a rare combination around this part of the world. Their Beef dishes and the seaweed salad are very popular. A couple of my friends travel across town to eat at this place almost every week.

4130 S Sandhill Rd # A4, Las Vegas, NV

(702) 436-4488

3. Go Raw Cafe: This place is warming, peaceful and friendly. The food is completely raw and organic. They do live up to their name. The dishes are presented well too. The staff is nice and the place is always pretty busy. Try a fresh juice, all fruit smoothie, or a pizza made out of sprouts, seeds, and veggies. A very good price for a healthy meal. Their website is www.gorawcafe.com.

I will write about more vegetarian-only or vegetarian/vegan friendly places in the near future. If there are any other such restaurants that you know about, leave me a quick comment. I will appreciate that.

I thought it might be useful for some readers to know that this blog is based on wordpress, a free blogging tool available at http://www.wordpress.org. This theme for the blos is called Connection-Adsense and is provided by Dave SEO. You can read more about it here. The good thing about this theme is that it comes with Adsense ad modules installed by default. If you are not very familiar with internet marketing, then you might be surprised that you don’t have to do a lot of make some money on the internet. It takes less than a hour to install wordpress, the connections theme and start writing blog posts. I did it all this evening. And once you are done, every time a blog visitor clicks on a google ad, you get paid by Google! The more popular and more visitors that you get to your blog, the more money you can make. I write blogs for the pleasure of writing but, hey, if I can make a few bucks in the process, why not? Moreover, blogs are a great way to promote products, write reviews etc.

They always say - don’t just complain, do somthing about it. Well, here’s my way of promoting the movement against cruelty to animals, and in the process trying to make some money as well. I have always been a believer in the concept of Entrepreneurial Philanthropy. Some also call it “Philanthropreneur”…phoo..that’s a looooong word :). Read more about it in wikipedia here

Hello Veggie World! I have been wanting to write about my veggie life for a long time and finally got around to doing it today! I really hope that you will find my blog useful. I am a vegetarian and have been that way all my life. I would have never tasted meat, oh well, if it were’nt for taco bell’s employees that think beef is not meat or chinese restaurants where even the chef does’nt know what they put in their sauces :). Now, what part of ‘meat sauce’ did’nt they get? :)

I am an Indian by birth, been living in the US for the last 4 years. I work as a software engineer, take interest in Internet Marketing and also build websites. I play a lot of table tennis and recite ancient Hindu Hymns called Vedas. I have a beautiful wife - Disha, who makes the best Indian food in the world. I am going to have her write some of her recipes here as well.

I will also post interesting pictures, recipes, books, sites etc. that I find here. I recently started a veggie shopping mall called www.veggieplaza.com. Do check it out and let me know what you think. I believe against cruelty to animals. I am not a vegan today but hope to convert into a vegan eventually.
